Chia seeds and weight loss

There is no "quick fix" for weight loss or weight management, and even the mighty chia seed is not going to strip away excess kilos over night. However many people do report that including chia in their diet has helped them lose weight.

There are three main ways chia can help you control your weight:

  • Nutrition and energy
  • Feeling "full"
  • Improved bowel health

Nutrition and energy

One of the obstacles many people face when trying to lose weight is lack of energy. The thought of going to the gym, playing sport or even going for a walk around the block can be quite overwhelming for someone who always feels tired. Blood sugar fluctuations can also leave you feeling energised at some times but run down for the rest of the day.

I saw results in about 5 days. My energy levels are amazing, I feel great, I even look great. People who haven't seen me in a while even comment on how good I look. I tell them, it's the Magic Chia Seeds! I am getting my work colleagues, friends and family on to this amazing product.

Chia seeds not only provide you with a handy boost of important nutrients but help moderate your blood sugar levels throughout the day. The result is higher, more even energy levels without the "crashes" associated with caffiene or sugar. With more enegy, exercise won't seem like such a chore!

Feeling full

When chia seeds are mixed with water a gel forms around each seed. In fact chia seeds can absorb around 9 times their weight in water to form this gel, which acts as low-calorie bulk to help you feel full and reduce hunger and food cravings.

I love chia seeds! I put them in my protein shakes and they're awesome in yogurt. I'm losing weight since trying them around 5 weeks ago - they fill you up so you don't eat between meals...

Gastrointestinal health

Good digestion and bowel health are important to maintaining a healthy weight. The high fibre content of chia seeds, along with plenty of water, helps move food through the digestive tract and keeps your colon hydrated.

People who eat chia on a daily basis typically report easier and more frequent bowel movements. The seeds are also gluten-free.

I have chia seeds with my breakfast cereal most days, with an extra glass of water. If nothing else, they certainly clean you out! I have never been so 'regular' in my life.
